21 Principles for Life - Henry Marquiss

1.  Do not waste time by worrying.
Know how much thought you should give something, give it that much thought and understand you made the best choice with resources you had.
"When one door closes another opens, but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the ones which opened to us." Alexander Graham Bell
2.  No regrets
“The past only serves two purposes: happy memories and life lessons.” Vince Giusto
3.  Don’t allow others’ actions to influence your own.
It’s natural to show kindness to people who are kind and easy to show anger to people who are mean.  But you should show kindness regardless of the way others treat you.
4.  Balance is the key
If an area of life is over-emphasized or ignored, all other areas of life will be out of balance.
5.  Simplicity is best
“The price we pay for reliability is simplicity.” Dr Ferdinand Porshe
6.  Get over it
Whatever negative happens to you in life get over it because the alternative sucks.
7.  Always be thankful
Realize that your blessings have been given and not earned, therefore always be thankful for the gift.
8.  Live in the present
If you only obsess about the past or focus on the future then you are never really living today.
9.  Be Content
If you are not happy without it, you will not be happy with it.
10.  Slow down
Don’t let the noise of life distract you from the important stuff. Or, don’t be so busy that you don’t have time to live.
11.  Happiness is a choice
Being happy has little to do with your health, wealth, physical appearance, educational level or social status, but everything to do with your attitude.  Therefore make the choice to be happy regardless of your current circumstances.
12.  Don’t Lie
Life is already too complex without having to worry about keeping your lies straight.
13.  Have a plan and stick to it
Know where you are, where you want to be and how you are going to get there. Don’t do things that would hinder or distract you from accomplishing that goal.
“Anything less than a conscious commitment to the important is an unconscious commitment to the unimportant.” Stephen Covey
“Vision without action is merely a dream. Action without vision just passes time. Vision with action can change the world.” Joel Arthur Barker
14.  Be compassionate
When confronted by someone in need, always err on the side of compassion.
15.  Give others their due
Never take credit for other people’s work.  Elevate others when you have the opportunity.
16.  Be able to admit that you are wrong
“More people would learn from their mistakes if they weren’t so busy denying that they made them.”  Anonymous
17.  There is a God and you’re not him
A fool says in his heart, ”There is no God.”
18.  Prayer works
Prayer has the tendency to shift your focus from doubt to faith.
19.  Think before you speak
“It is better to appear a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."
20.  Avoid impulse buying
Wait 24 hours before making a significant purchase.
21.  Be persistent
Persistence can often make up for lack of ability.
